take me or leave me, they're instead saying
I'll cover you for a little bit longer.

news today 4 U! The word
on the street out tonight is that the bohemian tuner is being temporarily taken off
life support to live
another day, although not quite through
Happy New Year or
Christmas Bells or even
Halloween. However,
without you, the show would have closed on June 1, but now it's been
tuned up through September 7.
No doubt
Rent fans are
over the moon, if not doing the
tango, after
contacting all their fellow fans leaving
voicemails shouting, "
La Vie Boheme"!
So now
will I have to ask all you
Rent fans, are
you okay, honeys? I'm sure with
what you own in your achievement in keeping the show going, you're thinking, yes,
we're okay. I'll just

August: Osage County Will Extend Again, Moving To Music BoxTracy Letts' wildly successful play
August: Osage County will extend yet again, ensuring performances straight through the all-important Tony Award voting period.
That news has been confirmed to Steve On Broadway by several sources close to the show who tell me that the show may be extended for up to
six months.
What's the catch? According to my sources, the best play I've seen over the last five years must move. It's no secret that its current
Imperial Theatre home will host the Broadway incarnation of
Billy Elliot The Musical come September.
Since
The Farnsworth Invention is now scheduled to vacate the significantly smaller (read: more intimate)
Music Box Theatre on March 2, look for
August: Osage County to move over. Although
AOC's gargantuan three-story set must be meticulously moved, the Music Box is literally right next door to the Imperial on 45th Street.

Hot, Hot, Hot August Just Got Longer
In a theatrical season when the straight play is king,
Tracy Letts'
August: Osage County has just claimed the crown as the week's top-grosser on Broadway. So it's no surprise that the critically-acclaimed Steppenwolf transfer from Chicago has now extended an amazing five weeks through April 13 at Rialto's
Imperial Theatre.
In the week ending January 13,
August: Osage County grossed a whopping $603,293 compared with the second place finisher among all plays,
Tom Stoppard's
Rock 'N' Roll at $467,113. What's more, the Imperial, normally home to big musicals, is managing to draw capacity crowds of about 75%. No small feat, considering January is typically one of the worst months on the Great White Way.
I've made no secret that this has been my absolute favorite show, bar none, of the last five years. If you haven't seen it, make every effort to take it in.

Palminteri To Tell Bronx Tale A Little LongerRegular readers will recall
how wowed I was by the riveting storytelling ability of
Chazz Palminteri in his breathtaking one-man show
A Bronx Tale -- currently playing at Broadway's
Walter Kerr Theatre.
Now it's been announced that the show will extend its run by two weeks until February 24 "due to ticket demand,"
according to Playbill. Additionally, Sunday evening performances have also been added for the month of December.
While the show's capacity dropped to just 55.2% last week, apparently there's still plenty of mojo left in the production directed by
Jerry Zaks that enables Palminteri to tell his story of growing up in the Bronx. I know he succeeded in completely sucking me into it.
Last month, during the Broadway stagehands strike that shut down his show,
Palminteri graciously addressed 900 New York City students from 13 of the Big Apple's public high schools; they had originally been scheduled to see him perform on November 14 in conjunction with the Theatre Development Fund’s Stage Doors Program. Instead, they had an opportunity for a conversational question and answer session.
