August: Osage County Will Extend Again, Moving To Music BoxTracy Letts' wildly successful play August: Osage County will extend yet again, ensuring performances straight through the all-important Tony Award voting period.
That news has been confirmed to Steve On Broadway by several sources close to the show who tell me that the show may be extended for up to six months.
What's the catch? According to my sources, the best play I've seen over the last five years must move. It's no secret that its current Imperial Theatre home will host the Broadway incarnation of Billy Elliot The Musical come September.
Since The Farnsworth Invention is now scheduled to vacate the significantly smaller (read: more intimate) Music Box Theatre on March 2, look for August: Osage County to move over. Although AOC's gargantuan three-story set must be meticulously moved, the Music Box is literally right next door to the Imperial on 45th Street.
