Anything Goes Viral

Anything Goes Viral

Tuesday, Roundabout Theatre Company revealed its television ad for its upcoming Broadway revival of Cole Porter's beloved Anything Goes, which will star Sutton Foster, Joel GreyJessica Walter, John McMartin, Adam Godley and Laura Osnes. The production begins at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre March 10, 2011, and opens April 7.

But surely this viral video could have been just a tad bit more splashy, don't you think?

tELLINGvision

tELLINGvision

Remember how just last week, I described how enigmatically Elling seemed to be marketing itself? Well, the puzzle pieces are falling into place and not a moment too soon. After all, the play begins Broadway previews this evening.

Not only has Elling wisely begun engaging audiences via its website, Facebook and Twitter, but you may now add to those its presence on YouTube. There, you'll not only find the first real preview discussion of what Elling is about (see above video), but also two television commercials for the comedy (see below).

To be honest, the commercials don't do it for me, but I found myself intrigued by the video preview.

So what do you think? Does a cross between "Of Mice And Men (with a happy ending)" and "The Land Of Misfit Toys" appeal to you?

Cagey Commercial With Cheeky Grammar

Cagey Commercial With Cheeky Grammar

Have you seen the latest television commercial for this year's Tony Award-winning Best Revival on Broadway?

Earlier this month, La Cage Aux Folles unleashed its latest ad whimsically narrated by Kelsey Grammer. It effectively reminded me why I liked the show so much earlier this year.

The Scottsboro Boys Take To The Air

The Scottsboro Boys Take To The Air

The Scottsboro Boys has launched a new commercial to advertise the new John Kander and Fred Ebb musical, now in previews at Broadway's Lyceum Theatre.

It captures the spirit of the show in one fell swoop. I've been consistently and thoroughly impressed with the production's Website, poster and social networking skills on Facebook and Twitter. They clearly know what they're doing.

Can't wait to see it again.

Who Knew?

Who Knew?

Speaking of Young Frankenstein, whoddathunk that its most entertaining cast member, Christopher Fitzgerald, would have been the very same actor in that exceedingly clever Geico ad as its Cabbage Patch Kid star gone wrong.

Wonder if Fitzgerald was able to save on his car insurance? Or perhaps he doesn't need any given his New York City domicile.

Post Script: Fitzgerald's castmate and Tony-winning actor Shuler Hensley (a/k/a "The Monster) cameos in Geico's undercover piece on Jed Clampett.
