Broadway Box Office Tweets - Week Ending September 12, 2010

If you follow me on Twitter, you'll know that each Monday, I offer my quick analysis of each preceding week's box office on Broadway.

For your viewing pleasure, here are my tweets in chronological order for the week ending September 12, 2010:

4:00 pm September 13 - REALLY slow week on Broadway as grosses fall 19.3% from previous week to just $13,382,274

4:00 pm September 13 - Broadway capacity fell 8.97% last week to just 71.10% or 163,121 seats sold out of possible 229,387

4:01 pm September 13 - Broadway's average ticket price fell from $84.32 to just $77.54 last week

4:02 pm September 13 - Last week, WICKED and THE LION KING were only Broadway shows to earn more than $1 million each

4:03 pm September 13 - Normally sold-out WICKED remains top-grossing Broadway show at $1,400,569 & 95% capacity. Average ticket price: $101.92

4:04 pm September 13 - With school in session, LION KING distant 2nd grossing $1,228,315 on 83.4% capacity. Still top av. tix priced $109.78

4:05 pm September 13 - WICKED had week's highest capacity of 95%. Once mighty WEST SIDE STORY had lowest capacity of 50.5% (gross: $487,878)

4:06 pm September 13 - Week's lowest gross/average ticket price for 8 performances: MRS. WARREN'S PROFESSION $179,981/$43.19. 80.4% capacity

4:07 pm September 13 - BRIEF ENCOUNTER's 5 previews grossed $123,695. Average ticket price: $38.96. New entrant ran on 63.2% capacity

4:08 pm September 13 - Broadway's THE ADDAMS FAMILY lost most capacity week over week of 20.7% to 65.5%, grossing $806,698

4:09 pm September 13 - AMERICAN IDIOT, MAMMA MIA! and MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET only Broadway shows to increase capacity week over week

4:11 pm September 13 - MAMMA MIA! picked up most capacity week over week of 7.6% to 85.5% but grosses still fell by $43K to $775,403

4:13 pm September 13 - Broadway had such a down week that 11 shows grossed less than $500,000 each

4:14 pm September 13 - Silver lining? Only 3 Broadway shows attracted less than 60% capacity: MARY POPPINS, WEST SIDE STORY & MILLION $ QUARTET

4:15 pm September 13 - Finally rumors be damned: NEXT TO NORMAL keep chugging along grossing $236,417 on 65.5% capacity. Av tix priced $57.56
