110 In The Shade Shines Bright Tonight
Forty-three long years have passed since Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones's musical 110 In The Shade last appeared on Broadway. But this evening, the tuner based on N. Richard Nash's The Rainmaker will enjoy its opening night.
The Roundabout Theatre revival stars four-time Tony winner Audra McDonald as Lizzie Curry and two-time Tony winner John Cullum as H.C. Curry -- roles that were originally played by Inga Swenson and the late Will Geer, respectively, both of whom were Tony nominated as a result.
Will critics think this Studio 54 revival is made in the shade? Stay tuned as I report on the reviews in my critics' capsule.
This is Steve On Broadway (SOB).
