Broadway Grosses: It's Mary Poppins And Wicked
It's been quite a while since I last really checked in on which shows are leading the pack among top-grossing, top-capacity Broadway hits. But this week, first place among capacity performers is Mary Poppins, coming in at 100.8% of capacity; while it's the tuner's second week in a row with those impressive figures, it marks the first week that it has outright led the pack in that prestigious category.
However, Mary's $1,240,899 weekly gross at the box office wasn't enough to overtake longtime champ Wicked, which still reigns supreme with $1,404,787 for the week. And considering that Wicked's average ticket price is still at a lofty $97.07 compared to Mary's $85.90, it looks like it's in no danger of losing the top spot any time soon.
