Sonia Flew Takes Wing Tonight In Chicago
Sonia Flew Takes Wing Tonight In ChicagoJust in time for the Holidays -- that is both Hanukkah and Christmas -- Melinda Lopez's Sonia Flew will enjoy its Midwest premiere at Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre this evening. The play first debuted two years ago at Boston's Huntington Theatre.
The Jessica Thebus-helmed production about a Cuban immigrant preparing to celebrate the Jewish and Christian Holidays is described as a "warm-hearted play about how the world shapes our families, and how families shape our lives."
Sonia Flew features Sandra Marquez in the title role along with Steppenwolf ensemble member Alan Wilder, Sandra Delgado, Andrew Perez, Vilma Silva and Jeff Still.
Will Sonia Flew fly with critics? Find out tomorrow -- and I'll also provide review of my own.
This is Steve On Broadway (SOB).
