Scott Set for Laughs on Broadway
Scott Set for Laughs on BroadwayThe young Tom Hanks doppelgänger Tom Everett Scott has been announced for the role of the film idol who becomes entangled with a hustler in Douglas Carter Beane's critically acclaimed comedy The Little Dog Laughed. The play is slated to begin previews on October 26 at the Cort Theatre, with opening night scheduled for November 13.
While this is Scott's first foray onto a Broadway stage, he has been building an impressive theatrical resume, primarily in Los Angeles. His first big break was in the 1996 film "That Thing You Do!" which also marked Tom Hanks' movie directorial debut.
Scott will join Julie White and Johnny Galecki, both of whom will reprise their Off-Broadway roles, while Scott Ellis will direct. White previously received an Obie nomination for her work in The Little Dog Laughed. when it first appeared at New York's 2econd Stage Theatre.
If this Broadway transfer is capable of generating the same level of buzz as its Off-Broadway predecessor, this could very well become more than an underdog favorite come Tony time next spring. Stay tuned!
