Finally! Stage Musical Version of Priscilla - Queen of the Desert to Roll into Sydney
It's been twelve years since "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" made its fabulous debut. As one of Australia's most beloved -- and successful -- movies, introducing worldwide audiences to Hugo Weaving and Guy Pearce, it is the latest film to be reincarnated on the stage. Beginning on October 7, theatregoers in Sydney will be able to take in the world premiere of Priscilla - Queen of the Desert at the Lyric Theatre Star City. Tickets are now on sale.
The stage musical promises, "sensational live performances of the great songs you loved from the film including 'I Will Survive,' 'Finally' and 'Shake Your Groove Thing.' Experience the beauty of the outback on stage with over 20 full-scale production numbers that will take your breath away."
The Simon Phillips-helmed musical, written by Stephan Elliott and Allan Scott, will feature Aussie actors Tony Sheldon as Bernadette, Jeremy Stanford as Mitzi and Daniel Scott as Felicia.
Performances are currently scheduled through November 12, 2006, which seems like a mighty short window for anyone to catch this performance. I'll keep you posted of any extensions as well as any transfers.
This is Steve On Broadway (SOB).
